LEDs RGB

We have two kinds of RGB LEDs in the lab. Diffused and clear.

Diffused (Common Anode)

  • Forward Voltage (RGB): (2.0, 3.2, 3.2)V
  • Max Forward Current (RGB): (20, 20, 20)mA
  • Max Luminosity (RGB): (2800, 6500, 1200)mcd

The diffused RGB LEDs have a common anode (+ connects here). Make sure you connect the LED correctly.

USE RESITORS! Use these values with Arduino 5v output:

  • Red: 180-200 Ω
  • Green: 75-100 Ω
  • Blue: 75-100 Ω

Example of usage with Arduino can be found here.

Clear (Common Cathode)

The clear RGB LEDs have common catode (- or minus or ground connects here). Make sure you connect the LED correctly.

USE RESITORS! Use these values with Arduino 5v output:

  • Red: 150-180 Ω
  • Green: 75-100 Ω
  • Blue: 75-100 Ω

an example how to wire this (for wiring but basically the same for Arduino) can be found here.
