Short synopsis
Illusion concept will be connected with phenomenon of Surrogates.
“In the near future, people live their lives free of pain, danger and complications through robotic representations of themselves, called surrogates.” – is it an Illusion or reality? Nowadays the role of Surrogate belongs to social media – each person has his own surrogate in virtual reality. Social disconnection caused by the phenomenon of Surrogates is expressed in daily life situations. How it will change in the future?
The main idea of the workshop is - to mix and match living systems to make and show new living systems through dance and media. Interdisciplinary art forms will be use to expand the idea of illusion and Surrogates in the society.
During the workshop the performance will be prepared and showed during the annual modern art festival VIRUS organized by Šiauliai Art Gallery (since 1996). International modern art festival VIRUS is the only, largest and the most professional festival in Northern Lithuania, combining all kinds of art and introducing the newest and most original art projects in the spheres of fine arts, fashion, dance, music, theatre, literature, media and cinema. It is a kind of laboratory of synthesis of various kinds of art and the only opportunity in Northern Lithuania to feel comprehensive spirit of modern art by participating and visiting different events of the festival. During the festival, educational programmes are implemented, seminars, lectures, theoretical conferences are held.

Deadline (for motivation letters/portfolios): 20th October, 2016.
Grant info
Students participating in workshop will get Nordplus travel grant 330 (660 from/to Iceland) and board 70 eur/week
Please bring with you:
Personal devices: sketchbook, computer, phone, camera, musical instrument etc. and clothes to move in.
