SCAN An interdisciplinary creative workshop leading to a ‘work in progress’ showing.

 

Course description

An inter-disciplinary, multimedia project involving dancers, musicians, sound, video and multi-media students. The week will take its starting point in the choreography SCAN (2002) by English choreographer Rosemary Butcher.

 

The course is aimed at 3rd year or post-graduate level. The course should give students the opportunity to integrate their previous knowledge and experience with other visual, physical and auditory artists.

 

Students will work both individually and collectively in a common creative process under the direction of Rahel Vonmoos, former dancer with Rosemary Butcher, the choreographer of ‘SCAN’

 

Aims

·     To source original material from an existing work

·     The ability to integrate video/dance for screen into own artistic practice

·     The ability to integrate music and soundscapes into own artistic practice

·     Acquire the necessary skills to assimilate new media into own artistic practice

·     Choreograph/compose /create material for another artist

·     Work collectively in collaboration with others towards an interdisciplinary outcome.

·     Accompaniment for the teaching of dance

·     Choreographic ‘toolbox’

·     Music composition

·     Theory classes in Dance for Film

·     Reading of relevant literature

·     Documentation and report

·     Technique classes

·     Repertory

Level: 3rd year or post graduate students

Classes include theory and practical sessions and creative workshop (afternoons)

We can accept 10 participants

 

Pre-course task

Will be distributed from 1st December to participants

Nordplus grant

Participating students receive Nordplus travel grant 330 EUR (660 EUR if travelling from/to Iceland) and 70 EUR for board.

Credit points

2 ECTS – including contact hours, preparation and report.

 

Please bring with you

Clothes to move in, if applicable, musical instruments, cameras etc.
