The workshop is organized by Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy, in collaboration with Dama network.

Symbols are the imaginative signposts of life.

– Margot Asquith

Symbols’ maze

Symbols' Maze... in Music, Dance and Media Arts.

X DAMA workshop will pay special attention to the meaning of symbols in everyday life of DAMA network countries and will denote how these symbols are influencing music, dance and media arts.

Language, after all, is only the use of symbols, and Art also can only affect us through symbols.

– George Henry Lewes

Symbols are former language and part of our culture; they are found in video, photo, dance, music and written or spoken word. Every word and concept, even every letter carries an important message. Our perceived information is a symbol and there is a necessity not to get lost in the symbol maze. Significant is everything around us and symbols are part of life.

We are symbols, and we inhabit symbols.

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

During 5-days workshop participants will have a possibility to get introduced to national and international symbols and work with different aspects of the subject. In the workshop special attention will be paid to the congruity of mathematics and physics in art. Every day will consist of lectures, followed by discussions, group works and practice.

The best leaders, almost without exception and at every level, are master users of stories and symbols.

– Tom Peters
